Citizenship by Investment
How to Get Turkish Citizenship
The citizenship by investment process, explained step by step — from eligibility to passport, including where personal application is required and where representation may be possible.

Before you begin
Eligibility & Choosing a Route
Before the process starts, two things are settled: whether you qualify, and which investment route you’ll use.
Are you eligible?
Open to non-Turkish nationals of legal age who make a qualifying investment and pass eligibility and security review. An advisor confirms your position before anything is committed.
See full requirements →Choose your route
Your route sets the qualifying threshold, continuity condition and responsible authority. The current official criteria are maintained in the dedicated requirements guide so this process page does not duplicate the route matrix.

The Turkish Citizenship Process, Step by Step
Six ordered stages from qualifying investment to passport. The exact steps depend on your route and are set by Turkish law and the authorities.
Consultation & route selection
Confirm eligibility, choose your investment route and plan the file around your goals.

Investment & valuation
Complete the qualifying investment; for real estate this includes an SPK valuation and the title-deed transfer.

Certificate of Conformity
The relevant authority certifies that your investment qualifies — a prerequisite before the citizenship file is opened.

Short-term residence permit
A residence permit is obtained as part of the pathway. Current NVI guidance requires the foreign applicant to make the residence-permit application personally.

Citizenship application filed
The prepared citizenship file is submitted to the competent NVI office. Current NVI guidance requires the foreign applicant to make the citizenship application personally.

Security review → decision → passport
Background and eligibility review; on a positive Presidential decision, citizenship is granted and the passport is issued.

Some preparation may allow representation — but personal application is required at key official stages.

What You Do, What We Coordinate, What the Authorities Decide
You
Provide documents, funds and biometrics, and make the decisions — the account holder and investor of record.
Investo Global
Coordinates the file end-to-end and works with licensed Turkish citizenship lawyers, keeping it complete to avoid avoidable delays.
The authorities
Decide. The grant is discretionary and rests with the Turkish authorities — we do not control or guarantee the outcome or timing.
Good to know
Representation, Personal Attendance & Timing
Power of attorney & personal application
Current NVI FAQ guidance requires personal application for the eligibility confirmation, short-term residence permit, residence-card collection and citizenship application. Other preparation or transaction acts may allow representation, but the precise scope must be confirmed for the act and applicant. See the attendance checklist.
How long it takes
The process moves through roughly six stages; how long it takes varies with the file and the official reviews, and no fixed period is guaranteed, confirmed by your advisor and dependent on the authorities. See the full processing time & timeline.
Avoidable delays
Common Delays & Mistakes to Avoid
An incomplete or inaccurate file — the most common source of delay
Slow apostille or sworn-translation turnaround in your country
Property that doesn’t meet the citizenship-eligibility criteria
Assuming a fixed timeline or a guaranteed result — the decision is discretionary
Not confirming dual-citizenship rules with your home country before applying
After approval
On a positive decision, citizenship is granted and the Turkish passport and national ID are issued — family members in the same application are documented as citizens too.

There is no safe blanket promise that the entire route can be completed remotely. Current NVI guidance requires personal application at several key stages; other preparation or transaction acts may permit representation depending on the act and power of attorney.

It varies with the file and the official reviews; no fixed period is guaranteed. Your advisor confirms the current position, which depends on the Turkish authorities. See the processing time & timeline.
Yes. Refusal is possible, most commonly on file and evidence grounds — inconsistent or expired records, an investment that does not satisfy the criterion as documented, or authentication and translation defects — and also on discretionary grounds no adviser can see in advance. What follows depends on the stated reason: some defects can be corrected and the file refiled, while others cannot. We do not claim a record of universal approval; we identify the risks on your file in advance and say where qualified legal confirmation is needed. See common delays and mistakes.
No — the grant is discretionary and every application passes eligibility and security review.
